Student work
Ages 6-9 Name Designs
This week was very exciting as we started our Fall schedule for 2014. Our curriculum began with some basic drawing classes that allowed our students to focus on the elements of design. Those elements include line, shape, space and color (also texture, value and form). Our name design class did an excellent job in exploring all of the elements presented while exploring the versatile medium of watercolor markers. Great job to all of our friends who came to class this week to kick off our new schedule!!!
This fall landscape acrylic painting lesson allowed our students to explore many aspects of landscape painting. Students not only were introduced to the use of perspective but also they reinforced their knowledge about color mixing and the properties of acrylic paint. Proportion was also emphasized in the process of this painting. Great job Lila!!
These sunflower studies are simply breathtaking!! Students in our Preteen/Teen group did an amazing job in studying Vincent Van Gogh's sunflowers to make their own oil pastels sunflower creations on black construction paper. The final touch was an outline with black glue. Great job to this group of promising young artists!!

Spider web acrylic paintings
Our Preteen/Teen class learned that an artist can use many materials to create a unique style painting. For this piece we used painter's tape to make the web. After "taping the web" we used acrylic paint to add color to the whole canvas. When the paint was dry we peeled off the tape leaving a white outline of the web. Add the spider and one has a one-of-a-kind spider painting. |
Tissue paper Fall Leaves
We want palm trees and the beach!!
Cupcake Still lifes
Our Fun Friday class made up of both our Teens/Preteen class and our 6-9 age group all tried their painting skills at depicting a cupcake still life. Looking at still life from more of a Pop Art perspective students chose their colors for the background and for their cupcake. Students experimented with different brushstrokes and color mixing to make their acrylic painted cupcakes. At the end of class students could enjoy eating their cupcakes as a reward for their hard work. Great job to everyone!!
